Governance, Risk Management & Compliance

Research Focus: Methodologies and decision algorithms to assess risks and vulnerability of small water systems; understanding how technical and social issues are incorporated into water safety plans; understanding governance barriers to adoption of innovative solutions in small, rural and First Nations communities.

Outputs: Policy notes and guides on barriers and opportunities in small system governance, as well as improved water safety plans adapted to the realities and constraints of small water systems, developed through extensive consultation with user communities.

Impacts: These methodologies will include a holistic understanding of the ‘state of the art’ of current practices and constraints that small systems face, while identifying their capacity to incorporate innovative strategies to distribute safe drinking water.
